On Tuesday October 6, 2020 the Henderson Economic Development Corporation (HEDCO) held its 2nd Annual Business Appreciation Luncheon to honor businesses in Henderson.  The attendance was 103, even during the conronavirus pandemic.  During the luncheon, HEDCO honored Sadler's Smokehouse as this year's recipient of the 2020 Community and Economic Development award.  Sadler's Smokehouse is Henderson's largest private industrial employer with over 450 employees.  The company was founded about 70 years ago and has grown to a powerhouse in the industry with a 220 sq ft plant on a 40 acre site in Henderson's Southwest Industrial Park.  In addition, Sadler's invested the largest amount in the lunch stimulus reimbeursement program HEDCo offered earlier this year.  Sadler's was recently purchased by Hormel Foods Corporation of Austin, Minnesota.

The guest speaker was Economist, Ray Perryman.  Perryman is the CEO of The Perryman Group of Waco, Texas and is a well known and respected economist.  HEDCO hired The Perryman Group to conduct a socioeconomic profile and target industry analysis of the Henderson area and the report is due out within the next week or two.  Perryman provided some economic analysis of the United States economy, particularly as it relates to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.  He also provided some data on the results of the conomic analysis his company is completing for Henderson.

The luncheon M/C was local attorney, Jamey Holmes, who also serves as legal counsel for HEDCO.  HEDCO Executive Director provided an economic update for Henderson, and State Senator Bryan Hughes offered the invocation.  Management from many local businesses attended, along with contingents from Kilgore College, UT Tyler and the area Small Business Development Center.
