Henderson ISD is in an "elite group" of districts receiving an "A" rating by the State's accountability assessment. According to Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Stephanie Bonneau, "It's just outstanding. There aren't very many districts that can publish that." In the area, Lindale and Bullard also received "A" ratings while Carthage and Kilgore received "B" ratings. The ratings are designed to be in compliance with the federal "Every Student Succeeds" act. According to Bonneau, Henderson ISD benefited from its efforts to "close the gap" in achievements across a variety of different student groups. HEDCO Executive Director, John Clary said this rating helps with economic development too. Families want to put their children in school districts that have high ratings. We can be more successful at economic development if Henderson schools are known as a "destination school district" where families want to move so they know their kids are getting a great education. This rating will help Henderson grow.
