The Henderson area possesses a solid workforce. A civilian labor force of over 229,500 workers resides within Henderson’s 35-mile labor shed and a labor force of over 302,000 people reside within the 45-mile outer draw area. The top four categories for workforce employment in the area are: Health Services, Retail, Education and Manufacturing. The Henderson and East Texas region has a very low percentage of union participation. Only 1.8% of the private sector is unionized and only 3.2% of the manufacturing sector is unionized.
Career and Technical Education
Henderson’s schools do a great job of educating our kids, and Kilgore College provides higher education courses here along with dual credit courses. Kilgore College and Henderson High School both have welding training programs in Henderson. In addition, Henderson High School’s Career Technology Program offers course study in health sciences, business graphic design, welding and technology, as well as some others.
Henderson is big enough to live it and small enough to love it.
